The Holy Bible - The Word of God

The Bible is God's Perfect Word

Its opponents have tried to prove it false and destroy it. It's true believers have staked their lives on what it says. Its contents infuriate many among the culturally elite. Yet the same contents inspire those considered to be the “least” by the world to rise above their circumstances by faith while radiating God’s glory.

Why does this “book” cause such passionate reaction?

Below is a passage that will shed some light on the Authoritative, Divinely Inspired, Inerrant, and Infallible Word of God:

"The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed.

Christ is its grand subject, humanity’s role exposed, and the Glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.

It is given to you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever more. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents." – Author Unknown

While these words are not part of the sacred text of the Bible, the thoughts expressed here reflect all that the Bible reveals about mankind and man’s relationship to God.

The Holy Bible is the inerrancy of the Word of God, holding that it’s the true story of a Savior, Jesus Christ, who was God’s Son, born of a virgin. And who died sinless on a cross as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. God offers grace freely to all who put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Jesus arose from the grave, conquering death. He is, in fact, the only One through whom mankind can acquire redemption and have relationship with God the Father.

How can you know the Bible is inerrant and wholly the divinely inspired Words of God which can be trusted and relied upon? Faith in the Word of God is not taking a shot in the dark. Faith is anchored upon truth. “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:17

When an individual reads through the Bible, they cannot bypass the miraculous statements and authoritative language of God Almighty. Man, of his own intellect could not have penned Holy Scripture (Isa. 55:8-9) Throughout the Old Testament, one will find the phrases “the word of the Lord” (Gen. 15:4, Num. 3:16, 1 Sam. 15:10, etc.) and “thus saith the Lord God” (Exo. 5:1, Josh. 7:13, 1 Sam. 10:18, etc.); these statements prove the One and Only True God is speaking, not merely finite man.

There are several verses which prove God’s divine authority which rightfully deserve consideration:

I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me” (Isa. 45:5).

"Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me" (Isa. 43:10).

"Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any" (Isa. 44:6, 8).

"Thou, even thou, art Lord alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee" (Neh. 9:6).

"Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding" (Job 38:4).

When I read these verses and there are many others; I feel completely compelled to trust in God and know for fact that He speaks with divine authority.

God cannot lie (Tit. 1:2), and Jesus stated God’s Words are truth (John 17:17). The believer in Christ should rejoice at the inerrancy of Scripture. This is where faith is anchored on truth (Rom. 10:17, Heb. 11:1). The skeptic will continually deny truth even when it's staring them in the face; just as Pontius Pilate did when he assented to the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus (John 18:38). The Bible has stood the test of time and will continue to flourish no matter what man tries to falsely accuse against it.

The Bible is truth because it portrays accuracy on every subject of life in which it speaks on. Geography, history, morality, science and prophecy are all authenticated in God’s Word. Many people don’t realize how accurate Scripture really is. The Bible said human life was found in the blood (Lev. 17:11). The Bible tells us the ideal time for circumcision of a male is the eighth day which is precisely accurate because chances of infection are minimized and clotting factors in the baby’s blood are at their highest levels (Gen. 17:12). The Bible tells us the Earth hangs in space and is round in shape which was foretold thousands of years before modern science identified (Job. 26:7, Isa. 40:21-22). The Bible tells us space is expanding itself which modern science has confirmed (Isa. 40:22, Zech. 12:1). The Bible tells us the stars in space cannot be numbered (Jer. 33:22). God also affirmed a modern medical practice in the very first pages of the Bible, which is the process of anesthesiology when He caused Adam to fall asleep and created Eve by surgical application. (Gen. 2:21-22). There are many more scientific facts revealed besides these but this is a taste of the affirmation and reliability of Holy Scripture.

The Bible has also proven itself true in its prophecy claims, particularly about Jesus Christ; foretelling how He would be born, where He would be born, and even how He would die (Psa. 22:16, Isa. 7:14, 53, Mic. 5:2, etc.). There is no way these prophecies could have happened by mere chance.

A person must accept the Bible as complete truth or else disregard it as a fairytale; but the latter choice would be considered utterly foolish based upon the evidence of accuracy.

Study the Scriptures for yourself. Test the Word of God as He challenges you to this very task (Psa. 34:8, Isa. 1:18). You will find salvation in Jesus Christ if you seek and search for Him in the Word of God (Deut. 4:29, Psa. 9:10, Jer. 29:13). Jesus said to search the Scriptures for they testify of Him (John 5:39); Jesus is Truth (John 14:6).

When the prophets and apostles first penned the Scriptures through God’s breath (2 Tim. 3:16) and the Holy Spirit (2 Pet. 1:21), the words formulated were flawless; Holy Scripture came out written exactly how God intended, error-free (Psa. 119:89, Prov. 30:6).  Jesus claimed that the Scriptures were flawless (Matt. 5:18, 22:29, Mark 12:24). Moreover, Jesus claimed His deity in that His words are inerrant and would stand the test of time (Matt. 24:35).

The Bible has certainly been preserved today as God claimed this promise (Psa. 12:6-7, Isa. 40:8). God’s Holy Words are spoken, and they are a closed revelation; beware of adding and/or taking away from God’s Holy Words (Deut. 4:2, 12:32, Prov. 30:6, Isa. 55:11, Rev. 22:18-19).

The inerrancy of Scripture should be of utmost importance to the contemporary church. If the Bible is not flawless and rather contradictory, then Christians have nothing to stand on. The Bible is the believer’s guidebook for spiritual life. The Bible speaks on every subject of life and portrays accuracy throughout. Morality, geography, history, science, and prophecy are just some subjects the Bible elaborates upon and they stand true to it’s claims. If the contemporary church denounces the importance of an inerrant Bible; then really what is the difference between them and an infidel?

The Bible requires a lifetime of study. There are truths you’ve not yet discovered, promises you’ve not yet claimed, and aspects of God’s character you’ve not yet fathomed. But the knowledge of God means more than simply knowing more about Him. It means knowing Him more—more intimately, more personally—which comes through daily communion with Him in prayer and in the Word. Let’s be quick to say: “Thank You, Lord, for meeting all my needs, including my need for godliness in an ungodly world.”

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” – John 14:6

I pray that if you’ve not received Christ as your Savior, you’ll consider now the eternal importance of this decision. It is in fact, the most important decision you’ll ever make because it is the one and only decision that will determine where you’ll spend your eternity, in heaven or in hell.

Believe (Trust) in the Gospel now (Jesus’ sinless shed blood, death, and resurrection as the substitutionary and satisfactory payment for all your sins), and you will be saved.

The purpose of a Christian is to reproduce oneself. “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise” (Prov. 11:30).
