Law vs Grace –
The Law demands, Grace gives.
The Law says do, Grace says believe.
The Law exacts, Grace bestows.
The Law says work, Grace says rest.
The Law threatens pronouncing a curse, Grace entreats announcing a blessing.
The Law says do and thou shall live, Grace says live and thou shall do.
The Law condemns the best man, but Grace saves the worst man.
The Law reveals the character of God and also reveals the weakness of man.
The Law was given at Mount Sinai, but Grace was given at Mount Calvary!
"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." - John 1:17
“The Law of the Lord is perfect.” – Psalm 19:7 Unfortunately, man is not perfect and cannot keep the Law. Keeping of the Law requires perfection and points out mankind’s sin.
“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” – James 2:10
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23
The Law is like the mirror which points out a smudge or imperfection. You don’t wash your face with the mirror. You wash off the smudge with the cleansing water in the sink. The Law points to Christ for cleansing of sin.
“Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster” – Galatians 3:24-25
Thanks to God for Jesus Christ who provides us salvation by grace through faith in His finished work at Calvary!
Jesus Christ is the only one who fulfilled the Law and can offer us perfect redemption through His Name!
Jesus said, “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.” – Matthew 5:17
“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” – Hebrews 4:15
“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth.” – 1 Peter 2:21-22
The Law never saved anyone, but Jesus who perfected the Law can save to the uttermost those who believe in Him.
“Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” - Titus 3:5-7
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” - Ephesians 2:8-9
