Jesus Christ came into the world as the Light of the World. He is the Light which shines into a dark place.
"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." - John 8:12
Jesus said, "I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness." - John 12:46
Placing your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior brings you into eternal light. Believers have the Light to shine through all darkness.
The question is, are you utilizing the Light? Are you maintaining fellowship with God your Father? The Light shines into the darkness and reveals the areas of sin which we must correct to remain in constant fellowship with God.
The first chapter of 1 John reveals the Light which needs to be utilized in order to remain in constant fellowship with God. The Apostle John is talking to the family of God. You can lose your fellowship with God the Father, but never your salvation.
"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us." - 1 John 1:1-10
Notice the underlining text above. The purpose of this chapter is to explain how fellowship with God is required so that your joy may be full !
Confession involves a host of things: Confession is taking responsibility for your wrong action. Confession is recognition of God's way and His truth. Ultimately, confession is recognizing sin, forsaking it, and asking God to forgive you. Believers are confessing sins to God as His children. This is an intimate confession to restore fellowship with our Heavenly Father.
When we walk in the Light, we are in fellowship with Christ. The Light shines on our sins and imperfections, revealing we need cleansing. Constant cleansing is a consequence of walking in the Light. We need cleansing of sin to continue to walk in the Lord's Light.
Do you have sin in your life which has not been confessed to God? Confess your sins and restore fellowship with God. Continue your walk in the Light.
