Do you know the significance of giving someone the Gospel of their salvation?
Why witness? Why tell someone the Gospel of Jesus Christ (The good news of Jesus' sinless shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection as the full substitute payment for forgiveness of sins to all who will believe)?
The Scriptures tells us to be wise in God's eyes, we are to be reproducing ourselves as believers.
“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” - Proverbs 11:30
When you lead a person to Christ by giving them the Gospel and them accepting that salvation message of their own, you have produced a tree of life in God's Heaven.
The salvation message is contained in the words of the Gospel. Jesus Christ made the substitutionary and satisfactory payment to God for all mankind’s sins. Now as believers of the truth, we need to tell others so they can be saved. Notice in these verses below the words of the salvation message.
The Words of the Gospel will endure forever and save a soul eternally. “But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” – 1 Peter 1:25
“To him (Jesus Christ) give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.” – Acts 10:43-44
These folks heard the Gospel and believed it personally!
Notice what the Apostle Peter asked the Lord Jesus, “Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.” – John 6:68-69
“But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.” – 1 Thessalonians 2:4
Notice we as believers must speak the words of the Gospel (explaining to someone that the Lord Jesus died in their place as the sacrifice for their sins. This is the Gospel. Jesus shed His sinless blood, died, and rose again proving He is the Savior of sinners by conquering sin and death).
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:13-15, 17
“That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.” – Ephesians 1:12-13
God calls or invites us to be saved through the message of the Gospel. When you believe the truth of the Gospel, the Holy Spirit sanctifies you (or makes you pure and holy), permanently indwells you, and seals you forever the moment at your belief. You possess eternal life and are saved forever.
“But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14
God calls us by the Gospel. Our part is simply to believe the truth. His part is sanctifying us through the Holy Spirit which He gives to every believer.
The only condition for salvation is to believe the Gospel; believe (trust) on Christ!
“And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” – Acts 16:30-31
“For whosoever shall call upon (invoke/appeal to as an authority for an action) the name of the Lord shall be saved. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” – Romans 10:13 & 17
We can produce faith in the Gospel when we hear the Gospel from Scripture presented to us.
When you have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, you can KNOW you have eternal life. If you have the Son (Jesus), you have life!
“If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” – 1 John 5:9-13
Just as the Apostle Paul proclaimed that he would not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; neither should we! I will proclaim it boldly and so should you!
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth.” – Romans 1:16
