Purgatory? What does the Bible say?
There is no such thing as Purgatory for mankind.
Did you know that there is no such thing as Purgatory? Purgatory is a man-made doctrine which is completely false. The only type of purgatory mentioned in the Bible is in the book of Hebrews and it involves Jesus Christ!
“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high” – Hebrews 1:3
If you want to look for purgatory in the Word of God, it can only be found at the cross of Calvary! Jesus Christ purged our sins when He gave Himself as a sacrificial payment to God for our sins! Our sins are completely forgiven when we put our trust in the Savior Jesus Christ, accepting His satisfactory full payment (His sinless shed blood, death, burial, and resurrection) to God for our eternal redemption.
“As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” - Psalm 103:12
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more” – Hebrews 8:12
“And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood” – Revelation 1:5
“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened (made alive) together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross” – Col. 2:13-14
Praise God today for the forgiveness of our sins! We are unworthy, but Jesus is full of grace and mercy!
“Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father” – Galatians 1:4
