Alone Time With God

Are you spending time alone with God?

Quiet time alone with God is very much needed. Silence and solitude are great spiritual disciplines. I have read that George Washington used to spend hours alone praying and meditating with God. He had a specific room dedicated to his time with God. The hustle and bustle of today’s world most likely prevents many from spending needed alone time with God. Pray, meditate, and read God’s Word to increase your faith and spirituality in Christ.

If Jesus prayed fervently and spent alone time with God, we know that we need to also!

Jesus “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” – Mark 1:35

God says, “Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.” – Psalm 46:10

As believers, our New Nature in Christ is a Spirit Nature, and to connect with God you must worship Him in Spirit. Worship involves devotion, adoration, reverence, respectfulness in awe for the Lord our God.

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” – John 4:24

The Holy Spirit resides inside of every true believer in Christ. The Holy Spirit living inside of us is how we connect with the Lord God Almighty, our Spiritual Father.

“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father” – Romans 8:9-10, 15

“And be renewed in the spirit of your mind. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” – Ephesians 4:23-24

“And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.” – Colossians 3:10

The Holy Spirit is our greatest inheritance for trusting in Christ alone! The Holy Spirit will teach you the Scriptures as He is the Divine Author of Scripture (2 Peter 1:21). He will illuminate your understanding as you yield to Him in faith (1 John 2:20, 27). This is yielding to and living in your New Nature.

“That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest (down-payment) of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.” – Ephesians 1:12-14

We are sealed forever in Christ by the Holy Spirit! Now let us live each day in the Spirit by serving Christ and connecting with God on a spiritual level daily!

Don’t make the mistake of grieving or quenching (extinguishing/putting out the fire) the Spirit.

“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” – Ephesians 4:30

“Quench not the Spirit.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:19

The purpose of a Christian is to reproduce oneself. “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise” (Prov. 11:30).
